This place is dedicated to document various projects and thoughts of mine, mostly connected to HCI and systems-design (see the “mission statement”” for more exact phrases).
For some time, I was quite sceptic about babbling my thoughts out into the world – what the hack do I have to tell? I’m not a usability guru spreading his wise words over the world, just an upcoming usability engineer trying to get his hands on some projects. The trigger to nevertheless start talking about my activities was set by recent initiatives around open usability.
Thinking about the topic of usability in open source projects, two important aspects become apparent.

The field of usability engineering suffers from limited communication and information exchange between experts.

Open source development needs to attract more usability specialists.

Both connect in the opportunity for HCI-people to communication within the open-source domain.
As I do not have the patience to wait until I can eventually call myself a usability guru some day, I decided to start engaging in open-source projects right away and to communicate them here. So I’ll just start writing now and hope the expertise and wisdom will sneak in later.
As I’ll write about usability in open source projects in various occasions later on, I should start introducing myself…
